About the Presenter

The Alliance for African American Health in Central Texas (Alliance) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Austin, TX. The Alliance’s mission is to reduce the number of African Americans who are diagnosed with, or die from, preventable illnesses and diseases that affect African Americans at higher rates than other racial/ethnic groups. To achieve this goal, the Alliance strives to engage community members to outreach, educate and advocate for personal lifestyle, environmental, and policy changes that will lead to better health outcomes and quality of life.  The Alliance’s service area includes the Central Texas counties of Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson.

About the Workshop

In Project Breast CARE the CARE stands for Cancer Awareness, Referral & Education. AAAHCT will be presenting on Breast Health Basics to help Black women learn more about and combat breast cancer. Learn about the risk factors and protective factors against breast cancer.

In addition, AAAHCT is bringing Dr. Lamia Kadir to provide free Clinical Breast Exams from 2 pm to 4 pm for people who are uninsured (have no health insurance) or those who are underinsured (have health insurance but cannot afford to pay because co-pay and/or deductible is too high). Advanced scheduling is preferred, so please call (512) 402-2242 to book your clinical breast exam today.
